The Women are pushing hard in 2016, only a few days ago Karen Cutbush UK, broke the womens Kite Buggy Speed Record with a fantastic 55.50mph on the sand, now the bar has been raised yet again, by another speed demon, this time from the USA, on the dry lake bed of Ivanpah, at the pre IBX 2016 event.
Going out in winds ranging from 40-50mph, be it sand or dry lake is brave under any circumstance, but on a surface like 40 grit sandpaper, it is only for the really determined, those people who want to be the best, to go faster than anyone before them. A small kite in those winds, is like a wasp on crack, get the kite in the wrong position for a split second and you’re going to get hurt….. my hat goes off to all the record breakers.
Tami Fraser a known kite buggier, who likes to hit the high speeds, traveled to Ivanpah before the IBX 16 had even got underway to take advantage of predicted high winds, and when most, including the men, pack their kites away, Tami went out and blew her own pb, and the current New World Record away with an outstanding 58.80mph 94.62km/h using a 2.7m Vapor
Hi Carlos,
It’s a windy day at Ivanpah! My 2.7m Vapor carried me to 58.8 mph.
Thanks for record keeping.
Cheers,
Tami
Congratulations Tami from the kite buggying family around the world
