Tami Fraser recently became the fastest woman on a dry lake bed with a speed of 49.50mph, and almost broke the women world buggy speed record held by Britta Berg G2296 81.50km/h / 50.40mph. Britta’s record was of course set on a beach which as we know is much harder to do with the extra rolling resistance.
But that takes nothing away from Tami who must have shown nerves of steel to reach almost 50mph on a surface resembling 40grit sandpaper
From Tami “Delamar dry lake in Nevada. It was back on July 20. Wind was gusting to about 35mph out of the south. I was making runs to the NE. About 2/3rds the way through each pass there were 4 deep ruts from a vehicle which drove there when it was soft. I tended to skid out on these. And then there are the power lines up at that end of the playa.
I think in reality you would be leaving the playa and hitting a fence by the time the power lines were a problem but it still made me nervous every run.
I was flying my Viper S 2.6 m. The day before at Delamar I spent the whole day on the 3.9. The wind was a bit stronger so I was using the smaller kite. The wind shifted and gusted a lot both days so I wasn’t using a Vapor.
