This year was going to be bigger and better than any other Bolton Le Sands meet, the camp site had been booked at Christmas and 60-70 people have booked pitches there.
Quite a few people decided to travel on the 3rd to make the most of the promised good winds on the Friday 4th, but although there was wind, there was heavy rain….all day too.
As more and more people arrived and the big Gazebo’s were erected, we still had a lot of fun, unfortunately there was not much else we could do apart from drink and be merry, and this carried on till past midnight.
Saturday the 5th at 6am the rain stopped and the sun came out, and after breakfast we all started to hit the beach. We set up about ½ miles off shore, much further out that we were used to, there seem to be a dry bank out there we could all play on, although there were some very nasty 1m deep creeks to avoid, there were also some patches of quick sand about and Steve Warren soon found one, his PTW Maloo buggy was sinking fast, it took a team of guys to pull it out.
Notice soon came, our usual play area was dry, and smooth, perfect for buggying, and within 30 minutes everyone moved the half mile back to our usual spot, the beach could not have been better, many did over 50 miles and hitting up to 46mph, most of us stayed out until the wind died, the smiles on everyone’s face was enough…..we had all had a fantastic time.

Sunday the 6th, well, many people got caught out including myself, the wind was predicted 5-7mph, but from 7.00am-10.00 there was nothing, a few decided to pack up and make the journey home. Those that stayed enjoyed even better winds than the day before.
All in all, we all had a great time, at a great location, and it was the people who attended this meet that made it perfect.
Here is a cracking little video by Steve Warren, sums up some of the fun we had
